Auto Insurance With No Down Payment

There are many reasons that people need to acquire auto insurance with no down payment. It may be that their established insurance policy has been discontinued suddenly. They may have purchased a vehicle for the first time and need to have insurance to drive the vehicle legally. They may be registering a vehicle that was previously uninsured and find that they must have proof of insurance to register it.

In most cases when an individual wishes to acquire car insurance they must pay a substantial premium to start the insurance. For most people the first payment must be a minimum of three months of insurance and is usually six months of the yearly premium. This is especially true if they have never had insurance with the company before or have a driving history that includes tickets or collisions.

There are several options for an individual who must get insurance for a vehicle but finds themselves short of funds. It is important to understand though that “no down payment” in the insurance industry does not mean the same thing as no down payment as it relates to goods and merchandise. This difference can be very confusing and frustrating when a person is looking for car insurance.

When an insurance company issues a policy they are underwriting or guaranteeing that if there is an accident the insured will be covered by the policy. This means that if they issue auto insurance with no down payment they are assuming a great risk for no money. For most companies this is not a risk that they can afford to take.

Many individual want proof of insurance to register a vehicle since that is a requirement for most states, These individuals then do not intent to maintain the insurance or even pay for it. They only need the “proof” to get the vehicle registered and are not concerned about the consequences if they are in an accident at a later date. This is the reason that people who do maintain insurance get uninsured motorist enhancements on their basic policies.

If a person has a clean driving record with no tickets or accidents and a good credit history, there are two companies in the US that will provide an auto insurance policy with no down payment. They will allow the individual to pay the required premium up to two weeks after the policy is issued. These companies have higher premiums than other companies and very strict regulations regarding who they will allow this benefit.

The most commonly used option for individuals is to acquire month-to-month insurance which requires payment of a two month premium when the policy is issued. For these individuals there is usually a discount given if the premium is taken monthly from an automatic electronic transfer from their bank.
